Request for Family Fun Day Volunteers

We’ll be needing extra pairs of hands to help out on Fun Day on 12 July, so we’re looking for special people who’d like to volunteer on a one-off basis – and no doubt thoroughly enjoy themselves in the process!  There’ll be a variety of light tasks to undertake, including:

  • helping with car parking
  • registering dogs for the dog show
  • face painting
  • assisting on the catering stall

Alternatively, if you’d like to make some cakes at home for sale on the catering stall and drop them off at the Centre on either Saturday 11 or morning of Sunday 12 July, that also would be greatly appreciated.

Of course, we’d be delighted if you could give as much spare  time as you can, but please don’t think you’d be expected to stay all day (unless you want to, that is!).

If you’d like further information on how to become a one-off Fun Day volunteer, please contact us via the “Contact the Friends Group Directly” box on the right-hand side of the screen.

The Dog Rescuers Comes to South Godstone

The Dog Rescuers

We had a film crew at the centre recently filming several episodes of The Dog Rescuers. They spent the whole day with us together with the presenter, actor/comedian Alan Davis. The programme is shown on Tuesdays at 8 pm on Channel 5.   Do watch it!!  You will see tremendous work being carried out by our inspectors, vets and centre staff, as well as several of our dogs being filmed with Alan for future episodes.   The previous series is being repeated on Channel 5 on Saturdays at 4.20 pm.

Hands Up For Our Volunteers!

Volunteers lunch

An informal lunch was held at the Centre on Wednesday 15 April to thank our volunteers who give their time and labour to staff the Friends of the RSPCA South Godstone charity shop in Caterham High Street. Lunch was followed by a tour of the new kennel blocks, all funded by money raised through public donation.

If you feel tempted to become a South Godstone volunteer yourself, please follow this link for further information.

Thank You, Battersea!

On Tuesday 31 March we went to the Brands Hatch Battersea Dogs & Cats home to pick up a large gift to South Godstone of dog and cat food, as they have received more than they can possibly use through donations. They are distributing some to different rescue centres, which will be most appreciated.  We are looking forward to their team coming along for a visit to South Godstone in the near future.  Below is a photo of Ruth Dongray, Homing & Welfare Manager, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home (Brands Hatch branch) who showed us round and organised the donation,  Darren and Tony.
